Knightstone (who are now Livewest) asked us to provide a design that made better use of an existing site which contained a care facility with a new development of 24 units consisting of affordable housing and new accommodation for adults with learning difficulties.
The proposal was a complete reversal of the original design where the rooms looked into enclosed areas and onto brick walls.
The proposal provides for a new central communal space that all the care units look onto. This provides the residents with visual movement and the opportunity to interact with other residents. The site also includes a raised garden for use as an allotment.
